EA GameShow to vault EA brand; Could head to PS3

Still wet behind the ears over at EA Sports, Peter Moore is already gearing up to take down the powerhouse of Nike and ESPN. Both brands are household names, something Moore wants for EA Sports as well.

During a recent interview with the New York Times, Moore stated, "There is a great opportunity to take EA Sports and turn it into a general sports brand that can compete not only with Take-Two and Konami and the other usual suspects in the video game world [but also to] compete with the likes of Nike and ESPN to win the hearts and minds of a very desirable demographic group, which is the 14-to-34-year-old male worldwide."

This bold statement comes amid criticism to EA Sports which has been under duress recently for their perceived lack of effort on many of their titles. While they may have a hold on football games for now, Moore and EA are going to have to do a lot more than just issue challenges to win the hearts of their target market.

In closing, Moore announced a new title. He commented on a new service called, "EA Sports GameShow," a free online trivia game slated for an Autumn release. If the online/PC version of the game is a hit, expect to see it on Xbox Live and in the PlayStation Store. He finished with, "In some ways GameShow is a pilot for what we hope to be a much more substantial online presence going forward," outlining once again that EA is on a warpath.

Expect to see much "Moore" from EA in the months to come as well as breaking information here at PSU.

They have horrible games this year.  But as a huge hockey fan, I am very happy with NHL 08.  I think it is the best sports game ever made.

ea did make some great games.......about 6 years ago...and have been rehashing the same one over the past 5 years never advancing any gameplay since. they have big company disease and now are so complacient they don't know what it takes to make a great game anymore. i bet you....i just bet you if they went back to having a small core of their best developers, got rid of half their crappy games they and went back to programing for long sleepless nights like alot of these smaller companies do we would see steller gameplay once again. sadly sometimes success can lead to a companies demise. you will see this company steadily decline until they are forced to lay off 1,000's of devs and cut their games categories and hopefully once again rise back to making great games. us gamers can only wait.
