Xbox 360 community is 'head and shoulders above PS3,' says Valve

Left 4 Dead writer Chet Faliszek has described the community aspects of Microsoft’s Xbox 360 console as “head and shoulders above the PS3,” which he attributes as one of the main reasons the zombie shooter has yet to appear on Sony's platform.
“Right now for Left 4 Dead 2 we’re looking at PC and 360 because the community aspects really fit the game – it’s all about playing with your friends,” Faliszek told the chaps at CVG. “But that’s the short term. What we’re looking at for the long term… if it works out, it works out.”
Furthermore, Faliszek also urged consumers not to hold off on buying the game for Xbox 360 in the belief that it’ll eventually make the transition to PS3 – because it won’t.
“Right now don’t not buy it on the 360 because you think it’s coming out on the PS3 – it’s not going to. Right? It’s coming out on the PC and 360. It’s going to be exclusive for that,” he explained.
“In hooking up with your friends and the community aspects, I think the Xbox 360 is head and shoulders above the PS3. The 360 and PC are on par, right?”

Rrriiiiight..... Oh Valve, Didn't you say that about Half Life. Oh I forgot you're EA's little B!tch. I guess he likes a community of homophobic, 13 year olds yelling racial insults over Live, not that PSN is any better... Well actually it's a little better.

I agree, I have much more fun online on the 360 than I do on the ps3. PS3 is faaar too quiet and no one has mics, ruining the 'community' aspect. If the PS3 CAME with a microphone then it might change, but I don't see them doing that tbh.
And connectivity. Does the PS3 have troubles with party systems or something? Every game that has a party mode implemented, it has troubles connecting (MW for example.) It isn't just me, many people have complained about it aswell.
I love my PS3, and dont really like 360 games that much, but I 100% agree with his comment.
P.S it's quite obvious microsoft paid for it to be exclusive..

@10, No there are not issues with part things, MW also had party issues on 360, its the devs not the system, This guy in the article is a douch and needs to get hit by a bus,

@10, I wouldn't call listening to twenty people mumbling to their friends over their music playing in the background community. Valve is just doing what MS has paid them to do along with exlusive license to their software.....B$h!t. This would only be news if it was Naughty Dog blasting PSN.

This article failed.
Why? The creator of the article failed to mention that this was said by Valve the same day that the director of Borderlands said that Valve "had a very childish attitude towards the PS3". When you read the comment of the director of Borderlands, and THEN read this on the same day, I actually laughed so hard that I almost cried. It was fun :P

I just registered on this site. Why? To say that Valve has just lost a few dollars.
I played Portal a year ago and found it absolutely amazing. I decided to buy orange box to play this brilliant game on my ps3. But now they are saying my console is a piece of crap. Moreover, they think that MicroSh!t's console is better!!! I hate Microsoft, i still remember how they destroyed Netscape and a whole bunch of other companies. I hate their products, MS office, internet exploder, even solitaire. Windows is insignificant next to the power of a linux :P. I will lay my hands on left4dead. For free.
Long live the king! Long live the opensource software!

The 360 undoubtedly has better community features, but the community itself is horrid.
And by that, I mean with a greater percentage of players of the age group between 12 and 16.
The PS3 is catching up in terms of features, though. They would have caught up and perhaps surpassed Xbox Live if Sony had more foresight in terms of memory requirements and online interfaces (I don't mean user interfaces).

They are just lazy. The PS3 has a prefectly good community. It has its own 3D space. Come on, you can live in your PS3. Now tell me that isn't a community. The PS3 has a better setup than the PC. I just think it is an excuse and a bad one at that. Not many other reasons to not bring it to the PS3. It used to be the PS3 sucks but every dev has said other wise, it has an installed base just as good as any other console. Now it is cause the online isn't good, what will be next. The 2 analog sticks are next to each other.

Its weird a Dev can even say that, the difference between 360 and PS3 gamers? Normally nothing they both love playing games and they may just prefer one console over the other.
Sure alot off PS3 owners do love a great story for single player but we equally love playing online with our friends in kicking their asses just as much as any 360 owner. Why not play online its free on PS3 at least :) Its half the game

Tell you lot why Valve is being like that. Because the XBox 360 Architecture is closer to that of the PC than the PS3 is.
Since the company is not capable of even finishing an announced "EXPANSIONPACK" for HL2 (Episode 3) in a normal amount of time, endless excuses as to why this is not happening and why that is not happening, the real reason they are not capable of creating a PS3 port is because they truely are not capable of doing it. PS3 is more complicated, more unforgiving and requires a lot of work to learn. Do it right, and you get fantastic titles, do it wrong, and you fail.

I love how they keep making up excuses for not making games on the PS3. Look Valve, we all know you're way too thick to make a game on the PS3. Stop pretending.

Does it bug anyone else that Valve plays high and mighty when they hardly develop their own games anymore? I mean, Left 4 Dead was originally being developed by another company, and Valve bought them out for it; Team Fortress and Counter-Strike were both Mods made by indie teams that they picked up; and half the games listed on their company profile were actually developed by other companies. They just stuck their names all over them because those companies licensed out the Source Engine.
Valve: Make your own games, build them on your own ideas, and build an up to date engine to base it all on, and then you can play high and mighty and b!tch about consoles. Until then. Shut the he!! up.
You know, I don't condone stealing video games off the internet.
But I think Valve just made their games an exception.
I'm off to crack Steam.

My belief is that this game is so simplistic. Even if it was on the PS3 I wouldn't buy it.
