Sony is greenest company out of the big three

Posted on November 28th, 2007 at 04:48 EDT

In these days of advanced electronics, it's not hard to forget about the issues that plague this earth. Greenpeace recently released their 'Guide to Greener Electronics,' in which they awarded ratings to various electronics companies based on their policies on toxic chemicals and recycling.

Despite the size of their black behemoth, Sony took a top spot on the chart with a score of 7.3. Their products are free of toxic PVC, and they support recycling and takeback (of old products), especially in the US.

Microsoft scored a dismal 2.7 on their environmental friendliness. They don't plan to eliminate many of the harmful chemicals that are created in producing their products until 2011. For shame Microsoft, for shame.

Finally, don't be surprised if your little white Wii starts emitting radiation. The most surprising result was that of Nintendo's, who scored a true zero on the list. They are the first company ever to score a zero across all criteria. Reggie, we're disappointed in you.

radiation is almost everywhere now so no big deal for me but the fact that 360 take in shi* and sony recycle and btw ps3 takes more power so i think all of them should be equal tho i own ps3 but that 360 should be lowest since when its throw its gonna be the product thats gonna contribute to plotuion

@gameware

Yeah, Sony should use it in their marketing.

When the article says the PS3 takes the top spot,  is this the top spot for consoles are the top spot for all electrical equipment? It took a top spot of some chart so way to go Sony.

So thats why the Wii glows in the dark.

There seems to be no bad news for Sony and the PS3, no matter how pointless....
