In a recent interview with Wired, senior director of the PlayStation Network, Susan Panico, stated that PlayStation Home is still on track to release sometime this year, although it will likely still be in beta.
Panico said that the "rollout will be similar to Gmail," explaining that Home will be an "open, working beta."
Now exactly how do we take this? Perhaps it's good to hear that Home will be available to all users, however if it's still in beta by the end of 2008, does this mean that certain promised features won't be available?

I bet it will be lacking features. I'm not in the beta but from posts on the playstation boards I get the feeling that the feature rundown from GDC isn't even full fucntioning yet (ala streaming video)
I think its good that its going to be an open-beta mainly becasue like Google, it allowed them to bring out lots of features under short time periods and also allowed them to get v.good feedback and imrpove on it...
it should b out in nov and all users who want t first have to go onto the site via pc and register thru the offical site

Believe it, when I see it....I have noticed lately that dev/publishers puts out a releasedate far too early, and all too often, the product get delayed. Or is it just my imagination?

They've held on to it long enough I suppose, as a beta tester I have to say that they've been extremely complacent in regards to upgrading the thing to full final alpha. Prehaps the new XMB features and the need to get new content out couple with the apparent show of good faith from Ubisoft to actually host an event in Home has made them realize how much they need to push it and this possible 08 release is a way to light a fire under the develoepers to get it done.
yeah we know its coming out in 2008.....in NOVEMBER 2008 and then the full thing at the end of the year cuz of kaz harai, launching the open beta at the end of the year 1 month befor (according to kaz harai) the MAIN version is supposed to be released! wat a ******* joke!!!!
Ridiculous. No problem waiting... but don't hype us up 3 years in advance. I realize delays are common in this business, but really? At some point there has got to be a time when we actually want what was promised. Thanks.
LOL, this is the funniest thing i've read in a while. At this point, i've lost all faith in what Sony is capable completing on time(if at all).
