Starting on Monday, PSU will be releasing new details and media for 2 Days 2 Vegas, a highly anticipated title for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360* and PC. Combining large full scale cities, realistic AI simulation, and life-like visuals, 2 Days 2 Vegas should be a top competitor for the best sandbox action/adventure.
Before we begin our feature on Monday, we just wanted to remind you guys of some details we have covered over the last couple years.
The storyline follows a man named Vinny, who just after being released from Rikers Prison finds out that his younger brother Tony is in some trouble in Las Vegas. Over the course of 48 hours, players will trek across America hitting major cities on their way to the City of Sin. So far the only confirmed locations include New York and Las Vegas.
When we talked with Edwin Loo, the games producer, last year at GDC 07, we were told that every city in the game will be modeled after its true likeness. He stated that every few months they have to travel down to Las Vegas to find out which buildings have been razed and what buildings are new so that when 2 Days 2 Vegas releases, everything will be close to the real life location.
Other details from our interview included:
- 2D2V will have a "Garbage Generator" to simulate the clutter on the city streets.
- "Blu-ray solves a lot of their problems". Since 2D2V is such an epic title, he said that to fit the game onto a simple DVD, they would either need to cut out chunks of the game or release the title on multiple discs.
- 2D2V thrives on intensity and non stop action. Steel Monkey guarantees the game to be full of wreckless car chases, gang shootouts and unexpected story twists, to keep you on the edge throughout the game.
- The game looks to be just as immersive (if not more) than Grand Theft Auto IV. You can check out our visual comparison of the 2D2V and GTAIV here.
- The title is expected to release Christmas 2008
So for those of you who are interested, we will begin our main feature on Monday starting with all new screenshots of 2 Days 2 Vegas. Then on Tuesday we will reveal two new tech demos as well as the first gameplay footage of the game in motion. Stay Tuned!
*Update: We have added that 2 Days 2 Vegas will appear on the Xbox 360. We have talked with Steel Monkey and it is confirmed that the title will release on both PS3 and Xbox 360 as well as PC.

This aint got sh!t on GTA....de only thing botherin me about GTA4 is because its on XBOX 360 it will not reach its full potential as it could be a huge game(map wise) if it wer released exclusively to PS3 because of Blu-ray...although 2D2V looks brill....i bet it'll lack in good stories and gameplay, whereas the GTA franchise in my opinion usually excells here! I expect this game to be huge though because of the space blu-ray has!

I still say to go from NY to Vegas in 2 days you'd have to drive constantly at full speed with no sleep. Where are you going to find time to get out of your car and explore these full cities?
Wow. I didn't even know about this game. Looks awesome. Actually interests me more then GTA. I just don't like the look of the character in GTA.

Where did we say GTA will look better on Blu-ray? All I said was that 2 Days 2 Vegas will utilize Blu-ray to fit the game onto one disc. The cities themselves are going to be huge! Think of it like Killzone 2, where the levels can be 2GB in size. This will be something similar.
This game really did go under the radar when the GTA IV hype took off,though i never knew it was a ps3 exclusive.

well idk, another game that involves NY =/, well atleast theres other cities that ARENT NY!.
Well i might end up picking this game instead of GTA4. Since im more intrested in looking at the multiple Cities, instead of just looking at one. Well for me this seems more entertaining than GTA4.

1st day purchase for me.
I swear, They were showing pictures of this game since the middle of the PS2 cycle. That was a long time ago, I remember seeing some of these pics back then. The trucks, cars, and stuff like that. Maybe even before the middle of PS2's life I seen some pics.
Hunt around you will definitly find them if you don't believe me. I thought this game was going to go to PS2 but they scrapped that idea because it just wasn't a strong enough system to do what they wanted to do with the game.
By the way, people saying this game doesn't have anything on GTA4, sorry but, YES IT DOES. That is if it looks at all like this in the game, it could be better. Before I start hyping myself up over this game though, I want to see how well the gameplay turns out and I am hoping for the best.
Very hyped? YES!! Can the hype get squashed super easy? YES!! This game can go either way for me. If they dont deliver on ALL accounts, i will just wait til GTA IV, or Eight Days. Either of those are above this one, unless it is freaking awesome!

why is everyone saying this is a PS3 exclusive it isnt unfortunetly its coming out for the 360 as well which doesn't make since, whats the point of talking about how the game can't fit on dvd9 disc when you turn around and say its for the 360

Since this gameis coming to the x360 it will most kiely be the inferior version to get just like burnout or Oblivion ect.
