Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has revealed that UK sales of PlayStation Portable hardware are up a whopping 120 percent on the strength of the launch of PSPgo last Thursday.
Speaking to GI.biz, the console manufacturer said that PSP-3000 enjoyed significant growth, with heavy hitters Gran Turismo PSP and FIFA 2010 also selling like hotcakes.
"PSPgo has performed in line with our expectations, driving 100 per cent incremental volume for the category and has benefited the broad PSP portfolio with PSP-3000 also enjoying a big lift," said the company. "PSP software sales also having been a standout with both new releases GT PSP and FIFA 10 performing well."
Punters can fork out for Sony’s new hardware for around £224.99 GBP in the UK, and can also bag a free copy of Gran Turismo provided you download the Polyphony Digital racer by October 10.

Go with the Go, 1(Lol, Pun..). But no, wait for a price drop, the PSP3000 is the best choice if you're thinking of buying a PSP. If not then just get Uncharted 2 and Modern warfare 2, those games will surely be the greatest things you will buy. Ultimately its your decision!.
On a side note, I'm surprised they're selling these things, I think its overpriced for what you're getting.

This is when I shake my head at the people actually falling for this PsPgo and buying it. Sorry guys but it's no different then the other PSP handhelds out there. This is so weird, Everything that has failed in the passed, Sony is able to accomplish it. I mean, It boggles my mind to think why on earth people would buy a PSPgo that is ridiculously overpriced and not really any different from the previous models. The only difference is that it slides up and it doesn't have UMD. WOW.
It's true, people will buy anything. Hey, I think I will sell Deep fried chicken heads for $5.00. People will actually buy it. ***sighs***

I want one but it's almost the price of the slim. UMDs are about to be phased out so I don't want to buy one of the other models because of that. I'm just stuck as far as this goes. How is it possible this thing is almost the price of a blu ray/video gaming console?

in my opinion the psp-go is worth the $250 price tag if you have a lot of downloaded content because you can store a lot on the 16gb HDD and plus you can pause games and go into what looks to be like the in-game XMB, and to top it all off it can be used as a phone with skype which uses ether the built in mic or a bluetooth headset. O yeah and u get a free game with the purchase of the system

@1
First off thanks for not posting 1st.
I want all the items you want but I'd honestly buy U2 over the PSP GO. The choice is clear. =) I'm waiting for the price drop of the go. Not only will the go price drop but games will too.

Got mine Friday and it's awesome. Worth every penny (£199). Miles better than my PSP2000 (which I sold to fund it).

They need to drop the price, ps3 slim rose 1000% when it came compared to 120% for the pspGo.

When the PS3 is only £25 more than the GO, I can't believe people are willing to purchase this re-hashed product at it's price point. It's neat looking, but it offers nothing new, and is in fact more limited with what it can do than the old generation. I think it needs to GO away. To each his own though, if it floats your boat, then thats cool, enjoy it.

The psp GO was never meant to be an upgrade, it was meant to expand the market. It's for people who don't already have a psp. I don't know why that's so hard to understand, people keep screaming "How can Sony expect us to upgrade!?" umm they don't, simple as that.

ffs ppl stop YES there are ppl who will buy it cause they have money to waste and there are ppl who will buy it because its more convenient for them .
just because you think it isnt worth it doesnt make it a not worthy handheld.
i think its too expensive for me and im not the game downloading type BUT maybe in the future when we have decent internet connection and easier ways to purchase games here in (saudi arabia) then i might get it BUT in no means is the handheld not worth it because everything is worth somthing to someone

Indeed, people can buy what they want, its no worse then buying an iphone when it first came out(I can understand businesses needing it), but those who just wanted it.. Sounded like a waste but hey, its their money. I still think the go is too expensive(For me), also the lack of UMV and the prices for each game on PSN to download makes me feel skeptical.
