So i guess this answeres why it hasent been released.  Alot of bugs to fix, and there still fixing them.  Most importantly launching a game smoothly from in home with everyone.

I want to be in the beta

  14. LittleB69 | MightyB69

    • 5:01pm GMT - February 21st, 2008

Home will not be released to the public before late 2008.. the closed beta is almost over and then there will be a more open beta and not before that is done will it go public.. so my guess is Q4 if they are on schedule maybe Q3 if all goes well with the beta or Q109 if there is some big problem.... Just my guess.

March 20? i seriously doubt it if they are only up to version 0.8.3. They have got so much more left to do but that would be sweet if it is. we can only hope:) I think sony should use home as a major selling point once its out, i honestly think people will think twice about buying a rival console once they have seen home;)

it seems that they have do a lot of work behind the scenes to improve home. I'm glad the beta will now have more to do, but what about the rest of us? I'm sticking to this coming fall or next spring for a full release........

Trust me guys you dont want this thing getting rushed out the door. Yes they're taking an ungodly time fixing issues but as I've said numerous times, if you were in the beta you'd see it was far from being ready, this upate goes a long way to fixing issues but they're issues that should have been worked on long before they even mentioned Home to the public.

More than anything what they need to be conceptrating on is the implementations of Multiplayer game launching, sure it's nice to have 1080p and new lighting, and skin was pretty ugly before but some of those thigns could have waited while they improved backend performance. When the update comes we'll see how much better it's become.

    Home = vaporware?

  25. stovich | TasteLikeBurning

    • 1:19am GMT - February 22nd, 2008

One thing I was wondering about is (if it's possible), can the staff here at PSU implement a separate gathering area for their users? Just wondering because it would be pretty neat to virtually gather with others from this site.

Nice to know some updates even if almost none of the public can touch Home right now.

    ---

If Sony went by the US fiscal calendar, March would only be Q1 and Home is releasing Q2 2008.  That's April - June.

    • 1:53am GMT - February 22nd, 2008

It smells like vaporware yes but I reckon the delay is caused by the Japs who designed it - didnt have a clue where to start so they looked at second life and thought oooh cyberspace....that looks hip. Then designed Home v 1.0 then stood back and then quickly scrapped it, designed it again, vomited out their nose, then scrapped it again, and again, and eventually time will run out and they will have to release something and it will probably be very very lame. Then Sony wont be able to help themselves, they will try to make money off it and start flogging crap on it. I dont think they have a clue about what they are doing. Prepare to feel let down....again.

Oh yeah i can't wait till next week. I will even post here about the updates. Spring is near so Sony better release at least the beata for the public so that even my friends and fellow gamers can enjoy it.

Am I the only one here who thinks this is quite sad? Yeah it's clever and looks good but why live a virtual life when you have a real one?

  31. chubacca

    • 5:35am GMT - February 23rd, 2008

Exactly - this looks like a second life rip off. Very very very boring.
