Dark Sector deemed too violent for Australia

Australia’s classification board, the OFLC, has refused to issue Digital Extreme’s forthcoming action title Dark Sector with a rating in the country due to the game’s excessive violent content.
According to reports, the ratings board has deemed the title unsuitable for consumers, describing it as a "violent and sometimes gruesome game with a sinister storyline and ominous outcome”.
“The violence and aggression inflicted upon the protagonist is of a high level, naturalistic and not stylised at all,” it said, adding that some of the more violent elements in the title were "relatively easy to accomplish.”
AFA Interactive, Dark Sector’s Australian distributor, said that the decision was a “pretty substantial, but temporary, set-back".
Dark Sector is scheduled for release in North America and Europe next month.

Ok, as for Dark sector since I want the comments to stay on point, I didnt realize it was this violent either, and that simply means that auzzies will have to import it, which most do anyways since it will be out in NA before there anyways.

Its ashame they banned it but hey, thats their jobs. Thats what you get when we dont carry an R+ rating. But no doubt the decision will be appealed and they will most likely win. I particularly like the statement however, "not stylised at all". I find that quite amusing since the game is clearly a sci-fi horror title where the main protagonist is fighting monsters most of the time. Monsters. Doesnt that count as "stylised"? And does it need a story? I mean where does it say that a game needs a story. What about fighters? Are they gonna be banned because they dont have a storyline. Irrelivent arguments by the OFLC if you ask me and it sounds like a lot moer is going on behind the scenes then that they're really letting on. -

Violence is such a funny thing isnt it? I dunno what its like in australia but I notice certain things about people's reactions to violence and how the situation changes with regard to the media used. The news, while not giving VERY grahpic images, describes horric events in detail. Also, Horrificly violent films like Saw, Hostel and others are EAILY obtainable at a local vid store or even viewable on television. ...Trust me, I know kids as old as 9 who hacwe stayed up late enough to watch porn on TV, its not hard for kids to stay up and see adult films. The thing is, they LOVE that stuff.
Now with games, its simulated. They are nothing more than groups of moving pixels. Alos, all things considered, are not as easily available to everyone as say a DVD or a Tv movie, as well as being more controllable...now someone please, PLEASE tell me where the logic lies that games are allowed to get so much slack while movies and such (Which generally outclass most games in terms of violence) dont get a mention? I'm sorry if I''m bringing up things that have been brought up a thousand times before, but stuff like thiis just sickens me, even if it dosent affect me.

Maybe he was talking about burning ppl in a sec by a firey glaive,or maybe about cutting their throats with the glaive,or may be about electricuting your enemies with the glaive.I just can't seem to put my finger on it.lol
On a more serious note though,this game provides NOTHING that can't be classified as an M rating.

i'm glad that i live in france, we don't see games being banned like in australia and i hope it never becomes that way
