Jade Raymond. Now that she is out of the way we can go ahead.
Designed for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC; Assassin's Creed takes current-gen gaming to the next level with stunning graphics and an immersive story. The game itself actually takes place in the present, where a bartender named Desmond has been taken hostage by scientists who are trying to get a specific memory from his mind. The only problem is, the memory isn't his. It is one of his ancestors.
The scientists continually get Desmond, who was once an assassin, to lie down on a machine called the Animus. The Animus allows Desmond to see memories of his ancestors, and in this specific case, a person named Altair (all-tie-ear), which is Arabic for "The Flying One". Altair lived during the Third Crusade in 1191 and is a member of the Hashshashin that roughly translates to "assassin".

The game starts off with Desmond's first memory, which is of Altair and two fellow assassins’ on their way to recover a treasure and slay Robert de Sable, the Grand Master of the Templar Knights. On his way in, Altair leaves no man standing assassinating innocent by standers as he makes his way through. Once he finds de Sable, an un-stealth like move gets Altair thrown into the next room and one of his fellow assassin's killed while de Sable leaves with the treasure.
Because of this, Altair is then demoted to the lowest rank in the Assassin Order and all of his skills and weapons taken away. Now, Altair must travel to different cities such as Jerusalem and Acre and assassinate nine men in order to redeem himself. This is where the game truly starts.

Before setting of on each mission, Altair speaks with Al Mualim, the leader of the Assassins, who informs Altair on where to go and restores a weapon and a new skill. After speaking to him you can then leave the building and train your new skill, which only takes a couple of minutes and is definitely worth it. Once you get down to the gates you can get a horse and ride through what is known as "The Kingdom" which is pretty much the land that joins all the cities.
Throughout The Kingdom there will be random enemies to practice your skills with and viewpoints to climb up to light up your map or help in the completion of side quests. The Kingdom itself is rather large and can be bit confusing at first. You may find yourselves constantly pushing "select" to view the map to make sure you are taking the right path. If you want to get straight to the action then don't worry, after the first couple of assassinations, the game allows you to fast-forward your memory and will re-sync at the city entrance.

As you make your way through cities during each mission, it’s not hard to find yourself impressed at the amount of work and detail that went into creating them, especially when perched on a viewpoint where you get a glimpse of nearly the entire city. In a normal game you may notice the same couple of people placed everywhere or the same couple of buildings placed around in a city, but you won't find that in Assassin's Creed. Granted, the human models are used more than once and I'm sure the building models are used just as much as well. However, the point is that you will have a hard time noticing two of the exact same models. The amount of detail that is placed in Assassin's Creed really enhances the sensation that you are part of a living, breathing community.
Each city easily contains hundreds of civilians, guards, and buildings. If you kill someone, the people will scream. If you climb a building, onlookers will become curious and crowd the ground below you. It also seems that each and every possible roof to roof jump was meticulously planned out to deliver an adrenaline-filled experience; just be careful though as you may injure yourself from falling too far or in our case, drowning in a canal because we were more interested in performing parkour.

seriously, the voice acting in Final Fantasy X was the worse crap I've ever heard. I wanted to rip my ears off everytime I heard the characters speak.
W3rd
you put historical accuracy as a pro? are u kidding me?
get this game. afterr tis i cant wait for assasins creed 2 which there definetly will be because of the ending of this game. youll know what i mean when you finish. its weird all those markings.
Guys, Assassin's Creed! Apostrophes! (main page).
This game sucked so badly!
Where can I find the patch???
@hactek: The patch automatically downloads and installs when you boot up the game.
Although it's a visually awesome game, and the roof/building running is near flawless I'm only giving this a 7.
Why? Because of the sheer lack of things to do.
You can ride a horse, sword fight, stealth kill, hide in some hay, sit on a bench, mug someone, interrogate and eavesdrop. Oh and climb things.
And that's about it. For the whole game. And it's the same tasks over and over again. Once you have completed the first two or three challenges there is a desperate lack of originality in what follows. Basically the game tries to be a historical mix of hitman in an open-ended grand theft auto city scape. And GTA is as far as they should have looked for gameplay. Dozens of sub-games to keep you happy. New original stuff cropping up all the way through the game.
Someone else commented on the forums about the fact that he can't duck. And while this doesn't spoil the game it would have been a sensible thing to add. Assassin, trying to hide. Hmm let's duck behind this wall. Nope, can't do that.
How about stealing someone's clothes? Nope.
How about concealing the body? Nope.
How about swimming - no, cos that would just be silly.
Don't get me wrong, this isn't a bad game. The gameplay that they have provided is highly enjoyable. The fights are superb and you can relish performing a counter-movement with your sword and wasting an opponent with one blow.
If you have a fear of height, this game will have your stomach clenching when you perform death defying leaps from the top of a minarette.
The plot is tight and intriguing, infact it kept me playing the game far further than I expected to, after being dulled by the repetition.
Hopefully ubisoft will pick up on people's comments and improve the next one even more. I'd be more than happy to try again with some improvements.
It took you guys this long to beat it???? What ever, thanks for the review. Even though it wont help me, because i beat it about 2 weeks ago. But im sure some people were waitng for the review.
Wow. Good thing someone put spoilers right in the first paragraph for someone who HASN'T BOUGHT THE GAME YET! Thanks for the spoiler warning, Phil...
Now I have to go somewhere else to find a spoiler-free review. Great...
Yes the first paragraph is a huge spoiler!!!!
A spoiler? You find this out within the first 5 minutes of the game.
Nieset game in so long
i thought the voice acting in FFVII was the worst in history
I liked Wintee's review better,guess I'll be renting
Seriously hide the spoiler much?
Historical Accuracy??? and sheeeit, thanks for ruining the story for me - I had gone this long without finding out exactly what the case was, but hey, leave it to PSU to be late and spoil the shlt outta things....thanks PSU!!!
red ps4
it best played on the 360 because of the better ai, better frame rate, better graphics and doesn;t freeze up.

This had everything going for it. The level design was the key feature in this game. If only it was used more for the gameplay. I wish it had better missions rather than the same old same old. I think the gamepay killed this game for me and the freezing WTF! I finished the game, and I wont touch it again.
This game is soooo boring. great graphics but sooo boring. I fell sleep after 30min of gameplay.

SO shud i rent or buy?
I'd buy it.. i'd give it an 8/10 - the graphics are amazing, the gameplay is cool.. but IMO the story is the let down. Its a boring storyline, and the assassinations themselves arent a major focal point - which is a bit odd cause you'd expect to get "rated", etc on your kills -- like Hitman -- but no.
i think that this game is vert cool man poeple wiil by this cd and maybaye when i buy ps3 i will buy this cd
needed bit more diversity between cities with stuff 2 do but the last mission is the best
i dont understand this every site i go to the ratins on assasin'screed is always different it's not like it's a lil off on each site it's wayy off some sites say it's bad other say it's okay n psu says it's awesome well i',m not gettin it
I just completed the game and I gotta say... the story sucks. The ending sucks. I was sitting there for about 10min after the credits started rolling going "what... what,.... huh.... what just happened?". Sorry to say but not only did they completely wreck the game with the last memory, but they also managed to create one of the stupidest endings in the history of video games. Finish the game and you'll know what I mean.

Awesome game, it is a bit repetetive but overall it deserves a 9 at least
Very good but can be confusing and repetitive
assassin's creed is by far one of the most enjoyable games i've ever played!!! I have already completed the game but find myself still sitting and playing for lengthy periods of time. It did freeze up on me a few times, but only right after i turned on my console. If it didn't freeze within 5 or 10 min, than it seems to be okay. I hear they're going to most likely be making a second game, i sure do hope so.
I like assassins creed, it doesn't take long to complete but the story is quite boring but going round with swords and daggers is extremely fun.
i dunno if this has been mentioned before, but:
"assassinating innocent by standers as he makes his way through"
This is a load of rubbish; the assassin association revolves areound three tenants, one of which being 'stray your blade from the flesh of an innocent'. Even in the game, you lose health by killing innocents!
However, it is a highly enjoyable game. If you spread your playing out over a few weeks, it doesnt seem repetitive. I'm replaying the game, trying to get all the flags in the hope that a Trophy will demand this!
A PS3 must-have. Happy playing!
Alot of action, dramatic fighting with guards, very large maps, graphics superb. The only thing about thuis game is the story i got lost at the end so therefor i will not buy the next games of Assassins Creed.
why does everyone think assassins creed is amazing ? its just a piece of overhyped trash with the most repetitive and boring gameplay ever seen in a game. The only reason this game did well is because of the worlds new found parkour obssession.
